Job Description

Orientation (New Staff Only):  July 8 - 9, 2024  /  Orientation (All Staff): July 8, 2024      

Program Dates:  July 10, 2024 - August 20, 2024

Provide consultation, transition support and staff development to BOCES and component district staff to meet the needs of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders. These services would support both preschool and school aged programming.

TYPICAL DUTIES: 

1. Provide classroom-based consultation to teachers and support staff in designing appropriate classroom environments and instructional plans for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
2. Coordinate and/or support transitions ofstudents with Autism Spectrum Disorders between educational systems; Early Intervention to Preschool; Preschool to School Aged; School Aged to Community.
3. Coordinate and provide staff development for BOCES and component districts in instructional areas requiring liaison with outside agencies or other community resources.
4. Develop and disseminate information and program descriptions to parents and community based referral sources.
5. Represent BOCES 2 in various community forums and committees relating to Autism Spectrum Disorders.
6. Participate in staffing and CPSE/CSE meetings as appropriate to review the programs of students.
7. Provide individual assessments/consultation for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
8. Maintain necessary records.
9. Perform other such professional related duties as may be assigned by the Special Education Supervisor.

 

Job Qualifications

Minimum 5 years experience in Special Education to include students with Autism Spectrum Disorders.    

NYS certification in Special Education, Speech, or School Psychology.
