As needed classroom assistant during periods of high enrollment:

  • Assist lead teachers in delivering instruction and supporting adult learners in High School Equivalency and ESOL programs.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring to reinforce lesson content and improve student understanding as directed by lead instructor.
  • Support classroom management by ensuring adherence to established procedures and policies, fostering a conducive learning environment.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to classroom instruction as needed
  • Hours vary per assignment, up to 15 hours per week
  • Maintains all safety standards as mandated by the BOCES 2 organization

ADULT EDUCATION - Commercial Driver's License Road Test Examiner (Class B) - Per DiemCWD/RdTestExam-11/15/24

Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES is seeking a highly motivated individual who has served locally as a commercial driver, to administer the CDL road test at our third-party road test site. Road tests are scheduled every 6 weeks during the spring, summer, and fall months.

  • Multiple Locations within Monroe and Genesee County

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  • Schedule road tests in DMV system based on provided data.
  • Facilitate vehicle use for road tests – respond to requests for road tests from CWD staff, pick up and prepare school bus for road test, drive to testing site, wait at testing site during exam, return school bus to facility.
  • Prepare and tear down road test site
  • Coordinate use of vehicles with vendors/providers.
  • Maintain all safety standards as mandated by the BOCES 2 organization.
  • Performing other duties as requested.

TEACHER IMMERSION FELLOWS PROGRAM (Spring 2025)CIPD/SETeachFellPro-10/28/24

The program is semester-based; therefore, substitute teaching will begin as early as January 2025. Interviews will be scheduled November – January in anticipation of the spring semester start date. Please apply as soon as you confirm your interest in the program.

Months:  January- May

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

If accepted to the Teacher Immersion Fellows Program, there are two main responsibilities:

  1. Substitute teaching
  2. Completing professional development

Substitute teaching: Fellows are each assigned to a participating school district. This is where they will substitute teach during the semester. Fellows put forth a consistent weekly schedule and are expected to report to their district for subbing each day on their schedule. For instance, if a Fellow selects Mondays and Wednesdays to work in their district, they will be expected every Monday and Wednesday for the full semester. They are paid $115/day for this substitute teaching work.

Completing professional development: As a member of the program, Fellows are required to take mini courses to build their skills and learn more about the profession. The required number of courses depends on the number of days per week the Fellow is substitute teaching. Fellows are paid $15.50/hour to take these courses.

 

TYPICAL DUTIES:

Substitute teachers play a vital role in maintaining the continuity of education when regular teachers are absent. They must be adaptable, patient, and capable of managing a classroom effectively. Specific duties may vary, based on the assignment.

Substitute Teaching:

  • Arrive on time to the district of placement on every scheduled substitute teaching day.
  • Demonstrate a positive mindset, ready to accept a variety of substitute teaching positions.
  • Follow lesson plans provided by the absent teacher.
  • Facilitate learning activities and maintain a positive, orderly, engaging classroom environment.
  • Establish and enforce classroom rules and behavior expectations.
  • Manage student behavior, resolve conflicts, and maintain a safe environment.
  • Maintain attendance records, notes on classroom activities, and any incidents that occur during time in the classroom.
  • Always ensure student safety; be aware of school safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Professional Development:

  • Complete all professional development requirements within the allotted timeframe.
  • Maintain communication with the program coordinator.
Teaching ($115/Day), Prof Dev. $15.50/ Hour
Cleaner Working Foreman, Full-time position, 12 months/yr.O&M/WorkForeman-7/9/24

The Working Foreman oversees the B-shift cleaners’ operations of the Operations and Maintenance Department.

Work hours are Monday - Friday, 3:00pm - 11:30pm.

Typical Duties:     

  1. Provides oversight of evening cleaning operations.
  2. Performs and/ or assists in the general cleaning and maintenance of the school buildings and equipment.
  3. Trains new cleaners or existing cleaners for new assignments.
  4. Assists with setting Cleaner’s schedules.
  5. Orders and receives equipment and supplies.
  6. Maintains necessary inventories.
  7. Maintains responsibility for maintenance and repairs of cleaning equipment.
  8. Maintains responsibility for proper execution of evening events and cleanup.
  9. Assists in snow and ice removal.
  10. Conducts daily inspections of cleaning operations.
  11. Communicates with department management and provides daily shift reports. 
  12. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Operations and Maintenance or his/her designee.
$21 - $28/ Hour, Based on Experience

  2. Assist/supervise Middle Skills Course projects with teacher guidance. 
  3. Provide instructional support to individuals in small groups to assure learning and skill reinforcement with teacher guidance. 
  4. Assist classroom teachers in the planning of fieldtrips, guest speakers, and other project based learning tasks. 
  5. Assist classroom teachers in the daily, weekly, and unit planning for student instruction. 
  6. Assist classroom with teacher guidance in providing students with feedback on daily and unit assessments as part of the instructional program or assist the teacher in the implementation of the classroom management plan and monitoring student behavior.

Substitute for the classroom teacher in their absence.  Conduct class as directed.

  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in their locations and at the times designated in the absence of the regular assigned teacher on a per diem basis.
  • Follow established plans for the delivery of instruction/classroom management as set forth by the teacher.
  • Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning and maintain standards of classroom behavior.  Utilize the administrative and instructional support resources provided by the career/technical program.
  • Evaluate student progress. Authentic daily and weekly student grades and attendance.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.

An Adult Education Classroom Assistant provides support to instructors in evening career training programs. They assist instructor with various tasks and functions, including:

  1. Observation and coaching to support the safety of students within the classroom and lab areas
  2. Development of lesson plans and delivery of instruction within established curriculum guidelines
  3. Preparation of classroom materials and supplies for classroom and laboratory instruction – including handouts, electronic materials, lab materials, etc.
  4. Interacting with students, providing one-on-one support and observing projects in lab
  5. Maintaining equipment in the classroom
  6. Maintaining inventory of consumable supplies needed for class including contacting vendors for materials and quotes.

To provide quality instruction for post-secondary/adult Career Training Courses.  Seeking content specialists interested in teaching courses in construction, manufacturing, transportation, and healthcare.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Prepare syllabus and daily lesson plans and hands-on projects for the practical application of the curriculum.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and student progress.
  • Provide individual and group instruction in the implementation of the curriculum.
  • Prepare pre/post-tests and performance evaluations for students at the completion of each unit.
  • Order student textbooks, supplies, materials, and equipment necessary for the implementation for the job training program.
  • Effective supervision of students.

To provide quality instruction as a substitute for Career and Technical Education Courses.  Seeking content specialists interested in teaching HVAC/R, CDL-B, Electrical, Residential Construction, Welding, Machining, Small Engine Repair, Forklift, Nurse Assisting, Phlebotomy, Dental Assisting.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  1. Provide instructional services for Career and Technical Education training programs in the absence of the regular instructor on a per diem basis.
  2. Follow established plans for the delivery of instruction/classroom management as set forth by the instructor.
  3. Evaluate adult learner progress. 
  4. Assist in upholding and enforcing procedures set forth in the Adult Learner and Faculty handbook.
  5. Maintain all safety standards as mandated by the BOCES 2 organization.
  6. Follow course curriculum, syllabus, lesson plans, and assessments aligned to industry standards.
  7. Use relevant technology to support instruction.
  8. Provide appropriate feedback during instruction.
  9. Other duties as determined by the Director of BOCES 2 CWD.

Cleaner-F-T position, 12 months/yr. (part-time for internal applicants)O&M/Cleaner-11/30/21

Work Days/Hours:  Monday - Friday 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm

Primary Responsibility: To perform all necessary cleaning tasks required to service and maintain all the Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES locations.  General cleaning of buildings and grounds.  Dressed in approved uniform.  Ready to begin at 3:00 pm.

Requirements/Duties:   

  1. Current Driver's License
  2. Ability to lift 50 pounds
  3. Remove and dispose of trash into an exterior dumpster.
  4. Collect recyclables and place in correct receptacles.
  5. Cleaning and disinfecting restroom fixtures, floors, sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains.
  6. Cleaning of Life Safety Equipment i.e.: Eye wash stations Safety showers
  7. Cleaning of all hallways, bathrooms, classrooms, shops and isolation rooms. - Disinfecting  door handles, student desks and chairs.
  8. Maintain floors i.e.: dusting, sweeping and mopping. Vacuuming of carpets, floor matting, window ledges, etc. using Floor units or Backpack units. - In between student arrival and dismissal.
  9. Conference room clean including room setup or tear down, refreshment setup, or returns.
  10. Move furniture or equipment as required within or between buildings and/or as directed by the Director of Operations & Maintenance.Clean windows exterior and interior, classroom windows mirrors etc
  11. Delivering pandemic supplies and UPS
  12. Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, waste/bio hazardous waste.
  13. Performs other related duties as requested by the Director of Operations & Maintenance.
