Job Description

To lead students toward the fulfillment of their career potential or intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation in preparation for successful employment and/or postsecondary education. 

TYPICAL DUTIES: 

• Meet and instruct assigned classes in their location and at the times designated.
• Plan and implement curriculum and teach to the career area groups requiring academic/technical skills for employment and/or post-secondary education. 
• Work with instruction support team in the delivery and employment of instructive/classroom management as set forth by school standards and goals.
• Participate in school-wide staff/curriculum development as a committed professional to quality improvement of student/teacher outcomes.
• Through the use of effective classroom management skills, develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning and maintain standards of classroom behavior.  Utilize the instructional support resources provided by the career/technical program.
• Evaluate student progress (authentic daily, weekly, and quarterly assessment of student grades); maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation. 
• Take all necessary and reasonable safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. 
• Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
• Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and home school personnel concerning student’s academic achievement and behavioral progress. 
• Commit to professional growth through an ongoing program, staff and professional development workshops, and/or advanced course work at institutions of high learning.

             

Job Qualifications

Either: (a) B.S. Degree and one year experience in the trade to be taught; or b) associate degree and two years’ experience in the trade to be taught; or c) high school diploma or equivalency with four years’ experience in the trade to be taught.  CTE Certification is preferred and/or possess current New York State Cosmetology License.
