Job Description

Assist schools and districts within the Monroe/Orleans region in ordering, processing, and scoring NYSED assessments while also acting as a liaison between our districts and the state education department.

TYPICAL DUTIES: 

Assist regional schools and districts with the following:

  • Attend weekly NYSED RIC Conference calls and communicate important updates to regional staff.
  • Support schools and districts in ordering assessments and review order files for accuracy.
  • Update databases used to print answer sheets, rosters, and labels for educational partners.
  • Coordinate packing of items and notifying schools when items have been shipped or are ready for pick up.
  • Use software and databases to move or assist in the facilitation of moving students between schools, districts, or regions.
  • Plan and organize the scanning and verifying of answer sheets through Teleforms and similar software.
  • Collaborate with programmer(s) to update Access Databases to meet state requirements and run edit-checks.
  • Provide end-user software application support and instruction for platforms such as Nextera and/or any other platform designated to be used by districts and schools for the purpose of assessment in grades 3-8.
  • Regularly submit secure files and work to resolve any errors that may occur.
  • Update and maintain a system for secure file transfers.
  • Assist with scanning and verifying Regents answer sheets or any other work associated with assessments/projects as required by NYSED.
  • Attend and participate in annual statewide assessment team meeting.

Job Qualifications

Must possess or meet requirements for Civil Service title of Computer Application Specialist.

 

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency   diploma, plus EITHER:

  1. Graduation with an Associate’s degree in a Computer Science or an Information Technology related field; OR,
  1. Two (2) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in developing or maintaining database applications on micro-computers; OR,
  2. An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (1) and (2) above.
