Job Description

Teach integrated Social Studies 12 and dual enrollment courses and career readiness; create and manage student career exploration activities including shadowing placements in career settings.

Job Qualifications

Significant experience (2-4 years) in the criminal justice continuum is required. This includes, but is not limited to: law enforcement, courts, corrections, probation/parole, etc. Extensive connections to law enforcement and other justice agencies within Monroe County is required. Ability to be approved by local colleges to offer criminal justice dual enrollment courses is required. Additional industry coursework and/or certifications, as well as NYS DCJS trainer certification is preferred. New York State Teacher Certification in Security Operations 7-12 or ability to earn certification.


  • Develop, implement and assess Justice Professions curriculum.
  • Develop, implement and assess career exploration activities.  
  • Develop relationships with industry partners and CTE Work Based Learning (WBL) Coordinators in order to create and monitor student work based learning and shadowing opportunities. 
  • Develop, implement and assess the integration of 12th grade social studies into students’ career field. 
  • Collaborate with CTE Instructional Specialists to assure curriculum alignment with NYS standards. 
  • Teach dual enrollment courses and maintain relationships with dual enrollment partners.  
  • Coordinate communications between the home school counselor, district transportation, student, parent, WEMOCO, WBL, industry partners and dual enrollment partners. 
  • Participate in CTE outreach activities including, but not limited to NV recruitment, application and enrollment process.  
  • Conduct and maintain student records (both academic and work based learning), grades, and attendance reports. 
  • Participate in BOCES-wide curriculum/staff development projects. 
  • Prepare reports, communicate and meet with parents, administrators, and home school/community college staff regarding student progress. 
  • Support the CTE department as directed by CTE administration. 
  • Perform additional professionally related duties as assigned by CTE administration.
