Job Description

Collaborate with home/sending districts and CTE administration to promote career awareness and CTE opportunities, enroll students within the CTE department, monitor and support student progress towards graduation options and help facilitate successful post-secondary transitions for all students.

Job Qualifications

Prior counseling experience in a comprehensive school system with a passion for career exploration and career planning preferred. NYS School Counseling certification required.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  1. Collaborate with CTE administration to manage the enrollment process and all related activities.  
  2. Participate as a member of the CTE Instructional Support Team to review enrollment data and student performance data throughout the year to monitor student progress and provide additional supports to impact student achievement, attendance and behavior.  
  3. Provide immediate support to students in crisis and facilitate the transition of additional or on-going supports to parents and home/sending district counselor.  
  4. Collaborate with CTE administration to conduct threat assessments and participate in emergency responses as needed.  
  5. Collaborate with CTE administration to provide supports related to student discipline. 
  6. Understand and be able to communicate CTE’s role in graduation options and pathways and partner with home/sending district counseling and PPS staff to monitor student progress.  
  7. Collaborate with WBL Coordinators to support student participation and engagement in work based learning opportunities.  
  8. Collaborate with CTE teachers and WBL Coordinators to provide related classroom instruction aligned to CDOS standards, CFM curriculum and WBL manual.  
  9. Support CTE students with the development and implementation of career and postsecondary education plans.  
  10. Collaborate with administration to create and sustain postsecondary partnerships.  
  11. Understand and communicate available options for dual enrollment, articulation agreements and scholarships to CTE teachers, students and parents.  
  12. Participate as a member of the CTE Outreach Team to help facilitate and promote career exploration and CTE activities and provide information regarding CTE opportunities to the community.  
  13. Participate in CTE Internal Team, Advisory and Program Approval/Re-Approval meetings. 
  14. Participate in department wide data collection, review and analysis as needed. 
  15. Ensure student records are maintained as per state and federal regulations. 
  16. Establish and maintain on-going communication with students, parents, and home/sending district staff. 
  17. Participate in all required meetings, events and professional development opportunities.  
  18. Perform additional assignments at the request of CTE administration.
