  2. Provide leadership in the development of strategic approaches for the integration of technology, assessment, data, accountability, and community resources into the educational environment.
  3. Collaborate with various staff in BOCES, districts, charter schools, as well as private organizations to facilitate information exchange, coordination of efforts and reinforce NYSED and BOCES policies.
  4. Prepare and provide materials and information for the District Superintendent, Cabinet, Board of Education, program administrators, and customers requesting services.
  5. Serve as liaison between the NYSED and the component districts in communicating and planning program requirements based on Board of Regents decisions, Commissioner of Education regulations, and federal mandates.
  6. Serve as a BOCES liaison in establishing partnerships with school districts, higher education, employers, legislators, and other community groups.
  7. Oversee technology initiatives, operations, policies, and procedures to ensure an effective, efficient and safe educational environment, where technology (equipment, applications and resources) is utilized appropriately to support routine administrative and instructional functions.
  8. Oversee data management services that support districts with data analysis, verification, reporting, warehousing, and integration.
  9. Oversee the Office of Communications planning and management services that encompass school information expertise, video production, printing, and graphics.
  10. Oversee support provided to districts/schools in implementing Community Schools strategies in order to increase student achievement and generate other positive outcomes for families. 
  11. Oversee the NYS Center for School Health in providing high quality assistance, resources and professional learning to school nurses, medical directors, health educators and other school health professionals.
  12. Supervise and evaluate administrators responsible for the management of accountability, technology, and regional BOCES services.
  13. Assist in the recruitment of administrative and other personnel for accountability, technology, and regional BOCES services.
  14. Oversee annual budget development and daily management of departmental budget activities.
  15. Serve on the District Superintendent’s Executive Cabinet, Cabinet, Extended Cabinet, and other forums/committees as necessary.
  16. Attend meetings and conferences which promote professional growth and will benefit the Districts/BOCES.

Coordinates, plans, prepares and monitors the development of a Transitional Planning Document for students with special needs who are completing their Special Education Program. Provides training and technical assistance to high school staff, parents and students on issues related to transitional planning.

  1. Identify students in need of transition services and transition team members for each student. 
  2. Educate students, parents, school district staff and community service providers about transition and train each group to develop skills to assume their role in the transition process.

Responsible for providing audiological services related to the auditory needs of students on an itinerant basis in multiple districts as well as in BOCES classrooms.

The float teacher may provide support to more than one location within a given school day. This teacher may be deployed to any/all Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES classroom settings during the course of the year.

TYPICAL DUTIES: 

  1. Act as sub teacher or paraprofessional in all Exceptional Children programs; may cover more than one location within a given day.

  3. Translates for seminars, classes, examinations, meetings, conferences as appropriate. 
  4. The primary function of a Cued Speech Transliterator is to act as a facilitator of communication between the deaf and hard of hearing students, the educational staff, and hearing peers in the educational environment.
